Designing for a major redevelopment in one of London’s key regeneration sites.

Situated in a prominent position overlooking Castle Square, Elephant Central acts as a gateway to the wider regeneration
Main moves

The Elephant and Castle redevelopment will deliver a new town centre for one of central London’s largest regeneration projects. It incorporates the shopping centre, a new campus for the London College of Communication and an adjacent site of 0.5 hectares, Elephant Park, fronting Elephant Road. Completed in 2018, Elephant Central is a £120m scheme comprising three towers of 16-24 storeys linked by a triple-storey podium. With market homes, student accommodation, supermarket and gym, Elephant Central was the first phase of the wider redevelopment.

Elephant Park will breathe new life into this part of Southwark with almost 3,000 new homes, jobs, business opportunities and green space for Londoners
Detail

The project has created a vibrant public realm and leisure amenities for the community, incorporating a new market square which will form the heart of the regenerated Elephant and Castle area. The whole development is linked to the new multi-utility services company (MUSCo) at the Elephant and Castle which will co-ordinate heat and power utilities, data and high-tech waste collection across the area. Our client Oakmayne Properties / Delancey’s overall aim is to create a new town centre for Elephant and Castle in the form of a thriving destination and community hub, with transport links, modern retail space, cultural and leisure uses and new homes for Londoners. Phase 2 incorporates the proposed redevelopment of the Elephant and Castle shopping centre site.
